Phytolink Australia Pty Ltd was formed in
2000 to facilitate the development, adaptation and commercial
implementation in Australia of the emerging clean up technology phytoremediation.
Phytoremediation is a bio-engineering technology that
uses selected trees and other plants to remediate contaminated soil and
groundwater. This cost-effective technology has been used widely in the USA for landfill
leachate control and stabilisation, for decontamination of toxic plumes in
groundwater and for remediation of former industrial sites that are contaminated
by heavy metals and organics. Success in these applications has led to
phytoremediation becoming the preferred technology over more traditional
engineering approaches for a range of major environmental problems.Phytoremediation is attractive because of its comparative effectiveness,
lower cost , wider environmental benefits and higher level of public approval.
