PhytoLink Australia implements ‘phytotechnology’ (plant-based technology) projects, particularly in the area of landfill capping.
Phytocaps are vegetated soil covers that control percolation by water balance methods instead of the resistive materials, such as compacted clay, used in conventional caps. Phytocaps also oxidise fugitive emissions of methane that pass through the cap.
PhytoLink:
- evaluates, designs and, together with our engineering partners, constructs ‘phytocaps’ as final covers for landfills;
- undertakes phytocap projects in other sectors such as mining, hazardous waste, and contaminated soil; and
- initiates and manages phytotechnology research programs and applications.
PhytoLink’s directors have experience in phytocap research, evaluation and design for such diverse clients as Lismore City Council, the Waste Management Association of Australia and the US Department of Energy.
