Desk Top Study, Buderim landfill:

PhytoLink Australia was contracted by the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency and Maroochy Shire Council to carry out a one-dimensional desk top study, comparing the performance of an evapotranspirative cap (ET) cap with a conventional clay/geomembrane cap at the Buderim landfill in the Maroochy shire. Results of this study were assessed by PhytoLink, Maroochy Shire Council and Qld EPA in late February 2003 to determine whether a follow up field trial at a selected site in Maroochy Shire should be carried out. The desk top study provided encouraging data indicating good comparative performance of an ET cap with conventional capping. A decision to follow up this study with a field trial is pending. PhytoLink engaged Dr. Donald Meyers, University of theSunshine Coast to manage this project. Bio-Track Pty. Ltd. performed the modelling for PhytoLink. This study received funding from the Queensland EPA's Waste wise Program.
