Funding has been approved by Rockhampton City Council for PhytoLink to carry out a field trial at Lakes Creek Landfill to assess the performance of an evapotranspirative (ET) cap against that of a conventional clay/geomembrane cap. It will also test the methane reducing performance of trees and grasses planted directly into the waste pile. PhytoLink has engaged Dr. Nanjappa Ashwath (Central Queensland University) as Principal Investigator for this project which commenced in June 2003 and will run for two years.
